"Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job!" complimented the President. - Well, that was five minutes after Brown had arrived...seven days later, he is out.
MSNBC via Glenn Reynolds @ Instapundit reports that the FEMA head Michael Brown is out. He has been officially removed from his role as agency director, and obviously from the Katrna relief effort.
Michelle Malkin: "While the president is getting rid of dead wood, can he do something about Norman Mineta now?
His replacement is Vice Adm. Thad W. Allen, the Coast Guard's chief of staff. The Washington Post had this to say about Allen on Wednesday.
Brendan Loy not pulling any punches with Brown's failings last week.
One down, two to go.....which one shall we have first Blundering Blanco, (see Firing Blancos Part I & Part II, Great Ball of Fire & Sixty Two Billion Reasons for Firing Blanco ) or Nagging Nagin (see Great Ball of Fire).
As usual Rick Moran has an excellent article published only this morning, and prior to the announcment, warning that the President needed to to something fast to try to compensate for the tardy Gov. Kathleen 'I need 24 hrs.to decide' Blanco, and kick some proverbial butt down there.
I am not going to say hat tip Rick, I hate that expression, it makes me think of the Dodger type characters from the Charles Dickens often unhappy era. The level at which the hats were tilted in those days revealed a lot....hence hat tip, was a complete tip over, reserved for the coachmen etc. Gentlemen only gently tilted, as a mark of respect. O.K. that's it, Michelle Malkin is going to send over the assassination squad! No pleeease, I didn't mean it, hat tilt would be umm sort of fine......
Latest Update: thanks to PoliPundit pointing to the Michael Garrett segment on Fox's Special Report about Michael Brown’s past experience dealing with the four hurricanes that hit Florida last year: " With all due respect, Katrina was unlike any other hurricane we have ever seen, and that includes the combination of the four that hit Florida last year. For some reason, many people keep forgetting that."
I hasten to add we also did not have Gov. Kathleen ' I need 24 hrs. to decide' Blanco in charge, with her utterly politically motivated ' Don't want to be seen to be handing control over to the Feds ' agenda. As one of my readers suggested: "She should be held accountable in a Court of Law as the Governor of the State of Louisiana". I don't know where the Constitution stands on that one but presumably she is impeachable. I need Prof. Bainbridge on this one please.
Perhaps the President could simply say " Hey Blancie, you're doing a heck of a job!". That should do it.
