The Pakistani terrorist group Jamaat ul Fuqra is using Islamic schools in the United States as training facilities, according to a joint investigative report by an intelligence think tank and an independent reporter.
A covert visit to an encampment in the Catskill Mountains near Hancock, N.Y., called "Islamberg" found neighboring residents deeply concerned about military-style training taking place there but frustrated by the lack of attention from federal authorities, said the report by the Northeast Intelligence Network, which worked with a blogger, "The Politics of CP," to publish an interim report. He also provides a Virtual Earth Image here.
The neighbors interviewed said they feared retaliation if they were to make a report to law enforcement officials. "These people need to be investigated," a resident said. "They are training for war, either for war here in this country or against our troops. Who in the h--- is allowing this stuff to happen right here in our own backyard, and why?"
[...]
"We don't even dare to slow down when we drive by," the resident said. "They own this mountain and they know it, and there is nothing we can do about it but move, and we can't even do that. Who wants to buy property next to that?"
Jamaat ul-Fuqra, or "community of the impoverished," was formed by Pakistani cleric Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani in New York in 1980. Gilani, who refers to himself as "the sixth Sultan Ul Faqr," has stated his objective is to "purify" Islam through violence.
Gilani also is the founder of a village in South Carolina called "Holy Islamville."
The encampment in Hancock, N.Y., is run by a front for Jamaat ul-Fuqra called Muslims of the Americas Inc., which operates a school known as the International Quranic Open University Inc.
[...]
The facility is on 70 acres of remote land on the western edge of the Catskill Mountains, about 40 miles southeast of Binghamton, N.Y. A sign at the entrance identifies the place as "Islamberg." The other side of the sign says "International Quranic Open University" and "Muslims of the Americas Inc."
Every one of the neighboring residents interviewed expressed disappointment and additional concern that federal law enforcement is not investigating the activities, the report said.
"These people need to be investigated," a resident said. "They are training for war, either for war here in this country or against our troops. Who in the h--- is allowing this stuff to happen right here in our own backyard, and why?"
Though primarily based in Lahore, Pakistan, Jamaat ul-Fuqra has operational headquarters in the U.S.
The group seeks to counter "excessive Western influence on Islam" through any means necessary, publicly embracing the ideology that violence is a significant part of its quest to purify Islam. The enemies of Islam, the group says, are all non-Muslims and any Muslim who does not follow the tenets of fundamentalist Islam as detailed in the Qur'an.
Jamaat ul-Fuqra openly recruits through various social service organizations in the U.S., including the prison system. Members live in compounds where they agree to abide by the laws of Jamaat ul-Fuqra, which are considered to be above local, state and federal authority. That will surely come as a big surprise to my liberal readers, who seem to be under the impression that the U.S law is paramount to the Muslims in the U.S.
According to the report, there appear to be more than two dozen "Jamaats," or private communities, loosely connected and scattered throughout the U.S. with an estimated 5,000 members.
The report says Jamaat ul-Fuqra members have "purchased isolated rural properties in North America to live as a community, practice their faith, and insulate themselves from Western culture. The group has established rural encampments that U.S. authorities allege are linked to murder, bombings and other felonies throughout North America."
U.S. authorities have probed the group for charges ranging from links to al-Qaida to laundering and funneling money into Pakistan for terrorist activities. The organization supports various terrorist groups operating in Pakistan and Kashmir, and Gilani himself is linked directly to Hamas and Hezbollah. Throughout the 1980s, JF was responsible for a number of terrorist acts across the United States, including numerous fire-bombings.
Gilani was at one time in Pakistani custody for the abduction of
American journalist Daniel Pearl. Intelligence sources have determined
Pearl was attempting to meet with Gilani in the days before he
disappeared in Karachi. Intelligence sources also suggest a link
between Jamaat ul Fuqra and Richard Reid, the infamous "shoe bomber"
who attempted to ignite explosives aboard a Paris-to-Miami passenger
flight Dec. 22, 2001.
[...]
Douglas J. Hagmann, director of the
Northeast Intelligence Network and multi-state licensed private
investigator, and others conducted their covert field investigation
Feb. 8 and 9 at the Hancock encampment connected to the terrorist group.
Primary access to the compound is an unmarked road – labeled on county and state maps as "Moslem Road"
Two structures with capacities of up to 100 each appear to be used for religious training, education and meeting purposes, according to local sources. Investigators found a weapons firing range that is not visible from the road or any other publicly accessible vantage position. It appeared to have been recently used.
Near the eastern perimeter of the property – on a hillside – appears to be a military-style training area, including ropes hung from tree limbs, an obstacle course, wooden fences for scaling and other items and structures one would expect to find in a "boot-camp" setting. The area also appeared to have been used recently.
The report noted the property is near the Cannonsville Reservoir and Watershed Area, one of several water supply sources servicing New York City and adjacent areas. Well that's really comforting to know. Glass of water anyone?
Don't miss reading The Politics of CP's comprehensive Digest of Terrorism in Rural America. and Baron Bodissey' s Dhimmocracy in America:
They will wait. Wait until America is vulnerable, after another terrorist attack, after a major natural disaster, after the avian flu strikes… The Great Islamic Jihad will be happy to piggyback in on a race war in America. They will also be happy to piggyback in on the craven American PC fear of being termed “racists.” They don’t care. Either way they get the Caliphate, and Dhimmocracy in America.

The MSM have of course utterly ignored the story, again I presume for fear of .....well perhaps simply fear, period. Just like they have ignored this one:
Hossam Armanious, his wife, and their two children were ritually slaughtered in their home and the national media, with a few brave exceptions, has been virtually silent. We all know the reason. If Hossam Armanious had been a Moslem who was killed by Christian fanatics, or a homosexual killed by homophobes, his name would have led every national newscast for weeks. Instead, unless we work to honor the memory of these American martyrs, his name will be forgotten and his courage unhonoured.
As we've said many times before, these fanatics cannot be reasoned with or deterred. They can only be hunted down and killed, and the more of them that are killed in countries other than this one (Iraq, for example), the better.
Despite the subsequent arrest of two suspects, Edward McDonald and Hamilton Sanchez, both convicted drug dealers, the controversy still surrounds the way the entire family had been killed:
[...] following a well-known Quranic invocation regarding how to kill an infidel.
"When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield strike off their heads and, when you have laid them low, bind your captives firmly…"- Sura 47:4
We may or may not find out the truth when they go on trial.

I have an idea why don't they build their village somewhere where there is sharia law like in Yemen or Sudan. beheaders do not belong in America here, we tolerate all religions instead of beheading them like Muslims.

Katina,
It's pretty simple. If a man uses his religion to authorize violence against people who do not themselves practice violence or fraud, then his religion is not a religion of peace. If he doesn't, it is. So you simply ask questions like this:
1. Do you believe that jihad ever involves actual physical killing of infidels because they are infidels -- and, if so, do you believe that jihad is holy rather than evil?
2. If a Muslim decides that Mohammed was not in fact God's prophet and converts to Islam or Buddhism or (God forbid) Judaism, do you believe he should be executed or subjected to government punishment?
If he says, "Yes, I do," then I don't really care whether he's a Sufi or a Shi'ite or a Sunni or the Abominable Snowman -- he follows a religion of death; and if death is what he's choosing, we should make sure he's the one who dies, not the homosexuals or infidels or converts he wants to kill. If he says, "No, I don't," then I don't really care whether he's a Sufi or a Shi'ite or a Sunni or the Abominable Snowman -- he's welcome to practice his religion in peace and come eat at my dinner table with me and my family. If I know he's coming to eat I'll even make sure to take pork off the menu for the evening.
You see, Katrina, we don't all hate Islam. "Islam" doesn't do a damn thing, actually -- it is not a person or a true agent. To rework an old American political slogan, Islam doesn't kill people -- Islamists kill people. But we do, from the bottom of our souls, despise murder -- and we recognize that pretty much any place you go in the world (outside of Ireland) and find people killing each other over religion, at least one side and more often than not both sides are justifying their evil behavior by appealing to the Koran.
Look, we know that there are probably 900 million peaceful Muslims in the world; my wife once flew from Texas to Tunisia in order to attend the marriage of one of them. Will you admit that there are, all the same, several million Muslims in the world who think their religion allows them to kill -- even enjoins upon them the duty to kill -- those who dare to disagree with their religious opinions? No other religion in the modern world has this problem. If someone you love is an alcoholic, and you point that out to them and suggest that they need to do something about the problem, does that make you a lushophobe? To point out that the Islamic religious world has a deadly cancer in it that needs to be rooted out and destroyed -- for the sake of the hundreds of millions of peaceful Muslims more than anything else -- to point this out is not to be "Islamophobic." It is (to steal a line whose source I no longer remember) to be minimally observant.
Show me the modern-day Christian mob that calls for people who insult Jesus to be beheaded, or the Buddhist mob that riots because somebody called Buddha a fatso, and I'll reconsider that last statement.
...
...
[still waiting]...
Listen, I'm sure you're a delightful person, like the Shunaev family back in Temirtau or like my Palestinian friends Nidal and Munther or like my Tunisian friends Najmeddine and Samiha -- indeed, like most Muslims across the globe. But if you can't admit that your religious culture has a problem that no other religious culture has, and that that problem is everybody's problem because your religion's lunatic fringe (a) is a pretty damn big fringe and (b) is into mass murder, then you and your culture will never solve the problem -- which means sooner or later somebody else is going to solve it for you. Indeed, Americans who take Islamofascism seriously keep trying to invite you non-murderous Muslims to join in and take a stand and help us defeat the Islamonutters, which would be by far the best way to prove that Islamofascists are not, in fact, representative of the Muslim community as a whole. But if every time somebody condemns the Muslim terrorists you start jumping up and down claiming that they've just insulted all Muslims -- which is what your charge of Islamofascism implies -- then it's you, not we, who are throwing the whole Muslim world into the Islamofascist pigpen.
In short, show me a Muslim who worries more about American "Islamophobia" than he does about the various streams of Islamic jihadic brutality woven into many modern Islamic cultures like gristle in a steak, and I'll show you a fool. Those lunatics have always been WAY better at killing their fellow Muslims than at killing the infidels.
But I'm sure (I mean this seriously, not at all sarcastically) that you're a very nice and well-meaning person; and I hasten to assure you that the contempt with which this comment has in places been drenched, is meant entirely for the Islamofascists and NOT for you personally. I know that it must be terribly difficult to hear people condemn "Islamic terrorism" when you yourself love and follow a thoroughly non-terrorist Islam; televangelists used to sicken me (as a Christian) even though they were just into stealing people's money, not their lives. But all the same, using that phrase doesn't make one an Islamophobe (or, I point out for Mr. Miller's benefit, a Nazi) any more than referring to "Protestant paramilitarism" in Belfast would make one a modern-day Bloody Mary or Torquemada.
With sincere respect,
KP

Please don’t do this! The sources you guy's are quoting, are both faults and ludicrous. Perpetuated buy anti Islamic racist. How is it that there are no records of ani American or Semitic beliefs spread by MOA and IQOU leaders, member or child? I bet you $1000.00 that you couldn’t get 1 government agency or agent will verify the allegations that Muslims Of America is a terrorists organization. I used to believe this jargon. Until I visited Islamville SC, and Islamberg NY, unannounced. They welcomed me in during their Friday prayer and Mr Hasib Haqq answered any question I had. You guy's are welcome to do the same. There were no Terrorists no bombs, bunkers, guard a tower, just American’s living alongside Americans. While in SC on Islamville I met FBI agents present at one of the group’s graduation ceremonies. Please stop slandering and spying on them, GO VISIT THEIR LOCATIONS. SAY HELLOW AND INTRODUCE YOURSELVES! Stop turning Americans against Americans. I feel their really hated because their both black and Muslim. You guys spend more time harassing innocent Muslims. Rather than exposing the terrorists elements of the KKK, of drug dealers child molesters and corrupt cops. In every report of MOA's members being arrested it wasn't for the group activity but that of a deviant member; every society has one and these guys are no exception. The media has reported that they have more than 3000 members since their inception I know there are more because our church has been around for about 35 years weve seen more than 3000 people and have more member than that but every one that prays there is not a member of our faith or community. No one blamed our Holy Father (Pope John Paul) for Oklahoma City, or the Vatican for the MOB or the Holocaust. As American we need to be more outgoing, out reaching to these communities. Please don’t turn America Nazi Germany!

Islamberg and the gilani's I know have been and always are in the public eye.To refute the lies that ignorant people put out look up the link iqou-moa.com. Actually because of reports like this the FBI and the local sheriff have been frequent visitors of the property to find out what exactly is going on. Now we all know that we don't want to make our fellow americans feel more insecure about the great job our government is doing to protect this country.Do we all want to believe that a group called JF is really operating in this country with it's so called sinister ways.Actually i went to college with a girl from the redhouse place and what female wants to go out and be known to be from those places. With such an evil attempt of "freedom" How can they be free to be whatever woman or man they want when people who put out these reports spread islamaphobia.Who is to tell all the rest of the world what is the difference between a radical and a sufi or some orthadox muslim.May The Lord help us and protect us from oppression and lies and terorism At whomever's hands ......What happens to the person who is affraid.

I think that the Baron did a neat job of knocking Joseph Marshall down to the mat in one round, so I'll just clean up a few points.
#1 Marshall's snide suggestion that insular Islamic oriented groups in the U.S. have not been the subject of appropriate law enforcement attention is wrong. In fact, the successful investigation of such groups is a law enforcement in-service study topic from the DOJ funded National White Collar Crime Center: "Identifying Links Between White-collar Crime and Terrorism: For the Enhancement of Local and State Law Enforcement Investigation and Prosecution (http://www.ncjrs.org/pdffiles1/nij/grants/209520.pdf)."
#2 Marshall's catty remarks towards the FBI from the Hoover era to today might be somewhat offensive if they weren't coming from a guy whose comments suggest that he has a level of worldly experience, maturity and masculine presence equivalent to a coffee-shop barrista. I doubt that Marshall could serve successfully as a copy clerk at an FBI field office much less conduct a successful surveillance (what Marshall calls, " tailing the hard cases").
Here’s a research tool for Mr. Marshall to consult so that he can decide whether FBI Special Agents behave (per Marshal’s phrase) “really professionally” (http://www.fbi.gov/libref/hallhonor/adversary.htm).

I believe that I asserted my belief that the MSM is an unholy bunch of cowards, months ago on this site. Any journalist with a brain has got to remember Salmon Rushdie's life altering encounter with radical Islam. They also know about dear Daniel Pearls horrible fate at the hands of those animals. They see the truth before it's spun and understand what an evil we are fighting. They KNOW and HAVE KNOWN and they are as traitorous a bunch of cowards as have ever existed. May God have mercy on them, but even more, may He expose them to their readership for what they are........

Thanks for the link! Minor clarification: The compounds I visited (I have found 2 so far) are in Virginia, not New York. According to the locals who live next to one of the locations, members patrol the perimeters with AK-47s.
Mr. Marshall: there is ample evidence, on official record, of the illegal activities of Jamaat ul-Fuqra. Go to my first post on them at Gates of Vienna and follow the links. South Asia Terrorism Portal is a good place to start.
The State Department is on record describing their criminal and terrorist activities.
At the compound in Red House, the boys are sent to school and not the girls. I got this information from local residents themselves, not internet rumors.
It is a terrible and frightening issue, because when eventually it has to be dealt with, race will loom large. The fires of racial hatred will be stoked by the usual suspects, aided and abetted by the major media.
But the fact remains that Jamaat ul-Fuqra is an organization based in Pakistan, run by violent fundamentalist Muslims, which has recruited American citizens to do its dirty work.
Go ahead and be sarcastic; shrug the whole thing off. But it's going on behind your back, nonetheless.
My contacts in intelligence have warned me that these people are dangerous and mean business, and that I should be very cautious. As a result, I can't even post all the material I have, because my family and I would be pretty easy to find.
I didn't used to be a paranoid, but I became one after I went to Red House to look around. Ever since then I've looked nervously over my shoulder when I hear footsteps behind me, and watch my rear-view mirror when the same car stays behind me for a while in traffic.

Okay. Let's look at this one. Now we won't go into the fact that not a single government official, state, federal, or local, is quoted by name, nor are references to the places where they are quoted made, to support all these assertions of illegal activities by this group or its members.
We had that one out over the War On Christmas, and we know that if presentable websites assert things without citation of evidence, then they must, of course, be true.
But that still leaves the interesting question of how our intrepid private investigator managed to get access to this hidden compound of hardened and experienced terrorists without having his heretofore shot off.
He can't have just been using binoclars from the neigboring farm, since he knows that the shooting range was "recently used" [presumably he found bright and fresh spent casings] and we trust his word implicitly on the matter.
After all, this terrorist group apparently operates with complete impunity and lack of serious investigation by any law enforcement-- not the county sherrif, not the New York State Troopers, not the FBI, not the ATF, not even the intrepid NSA. And this during the reign of George The Magnificent, too!
I smell treason in the ranks, probably the work of those multicultural law enforcement agents we have been so dillegently recruiting for decades. If we hadn't started watering down the standards like that, none of this would have happened.
It makes you yearn for the days of J. Edgar Hoover when all the agents were big, white men wearing grey suits and brown leather shoes because that's how the Director liked his agents to present themselves. Really professionally. They also blended in so well when tailing the hard cases that way, too.
The inaction of the county sherrif is particularly puzzling since the constant gunfire from the military training has apparently been disturbing the neighbors. You'd have thunk that one of the deputies would have at least knocked on the front door and told them to hold down the noise.
So with all this very convenient inattention by law enforcement, I wonder why is Mr. Hagmann still with us and not being used to fertilize the vegetable garden?
Well, there are a lot of deer upstate, so maybe Mr. Hagman successfully disguised himself as one. Or he could have gotten on the property while everybody was at prayer, or doing grocery shopping, or down at the town laundromat, or buying fresh ammunition at the gun and bait store.
Mr. Hagman can't have stayed too long on the property, however. He completely missed the small biological weapons laboratory that they are going to use to poison the reservoir. Too bad.
By the way, I have to start paying more attention to the news. I had no idea that an American race war was immanent.
I'll have to dust off my lawn chairs, fill the washtub with ice to chill down a case of suds, get in a lot of tostadas and salsa, and have the boys over to watch the action.
After all, the Super Bowl is over.
