"The Head of Medusa" by Pieter Pauwel Rubens c. 1617, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna
Deborah Lipstadt, the American scholar who coined the term "Holocaust denier" and who has made it her mission to combat the contention that the Holocaust did not happen said:
"What's in the settlement? How many gas chambers would you like me to settle for? What number of Jews killed should I agree to in the letter of apology? You have to stand up for the truth of what happened."
And stand up and shout out, 'Holocaust deniers' are rabid anti-Semites, or to put it more accurately, they are racists and liars.
Released and unfortunately returning David Irving, serves as a poster child for the mindset and attitude of all those who hate Jews and who prefer for their own ideological reasons to "persistently and deliberately misrepresent and manipulate historical evidence".
Our very own Mac Brachman, who most of you know to be a frequent and valued commenter here @ ATB, was recently rightfully exasperated in the face of such determined vigor to defile the Holocaust Remembrance; apart from feeling sick to the stomach, the only thing left is to name and shame, to cut right to the chase whenever we encounter such mindless or deliberate evil.
There is only ever one purpose behind all of this: To spread hatred, animosity and envy against Jews.
No other motivation could possibly drive these perfidious proponents. And thanks to Thug-In-Chief Ahmadinejad and his pet conference, the true intentions and motivations in all their ugliness have once and for all been revealed for all to see.
"Depicting Jews as the overwhelming victims of the Holocaust gave the moral high ground to the Allies as victors of the war and allowed Jews to establish a state on the occupied land of Palestine,"
Oh really? Not quite enough rabid anti-Semitism it would seem for Carter adoring Liberals, who rather busy themselves to minimize the Holocaust Deniers' Conference as a harmless jibe at the West in response to Europe's mixed reaction to the Mohammed cartoons - our Thug-In-Chief expected of course the relentless persecution and prosecution of the cartoonists and, as Danish statutes prohibit the death penalty, the deportation of said offenders to Iran, where the just execution could have been swiftly meted out.
Interesting to note that Ahmadinejad's right hand man, Mohammad-Ali Ramin, has been appointed Secretary General to the newly formed 'World Foundation for Holocaust Studies'. I wrote about him extensively earlier this year in my article The Angel of Death (check it again if you have time) This is a dangerous man we should all be watching very carefully. Mohammad-Ali Ramin who is what Joseph Goebbels was to Hitler, appears moderate, calm and reasonable, yet his views are the same as those that led without fail to the biggest atrocities and genocidal crimes committed by man-kind.
But, worst of all, is the blood curdling, what shall we call it, perhaps self-imposed 'compassion fatigue' we find on the Rolling Stone thread, which sent Mac searching for his blood pressure pills:
I do not think that anyone can deny that a lot of jewish people got killed during the second world war but then so did a lot of others- the only question I have is why do they, jewish people, have such a special consideration about it?
My my, why indeed? If the sentiment is such, that a question like this can even be formulated, it's downhill from hereon.
It would never occur to the likes of them, that we should instead join Ayaan Hirsi Ali and ask: "Why is there no counter-conference in Riyadh, Cairo, Lahore, Khartoum or Jakarta condemning Ahmadinejad? Why are the 57 members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference silent on this?"
Could the answer be as simple as it is horrifying: For generations, the leaders of these so-called Muslim countries have been spoon-feeding their populations a constant diet of propaganda similar to the one that generations of Germans (and other Europeans) were fed — that Jews are vermin and should be dealt with as such? In Europe, the logical conclusion was the Holocaust. If Ahmadinejad has his way, he shall not want for compliant Muslims ready to act on his wish.
The world needs to be informed again and again about the Holocaust — not only in the interest of the Jews who survived and their offspring but in the interest of humanity.
No, our Carter adoring Liberal disqualifies himself as being so completely misinformed or else, just utterly ignorant in his near perfectly blinkered bigotry, so as to argue, that "before the kidnapping of the Israeli soldiers last summer, Hamas was getting ready to recognize Israel".
To believe that, reveals one's unwillingness to take heed of the solemn pledges not to lay down arms, not to abandon this most sacred of jihad, until the complete and total destruction of the State of Israel has been accomplished; it reveals the unwillingness to acknowledge the reiteration of this solemn pledge on innumerable occasions throughout the past six decades, not only by every Palestinian leader, but also by virtually all of Arab's ruling elites. Recognizing the State of Israel in the Middle East is tantamount to blasphemy; anyone who even contemplates tampering with this holiest of aspirations quite literally would be signing his or her death warrant - nothing less.
Only by ignoring - or willfully denying - such critically and fundamentally important realities, can one formulate these kind of Carteresque type of ideas:
So what would I do if I were Israel? I’d withdraw to the 1967 borders, freeze settlement activity and monetarily compensate all the Palestinian refugees (with help from the U.S.) I would define clear terrestrial boundaries and help to draw up a contiguous Palestinian state. I would try to appear as conciliatory as possible during this process because it is possible for Palestinians to recognize Israel, Israel just has to be the better country and do what it knows is moral. I’d argue that Israel is better positioned to do this because of its economic and military superiority. I’d also get the U.S. to try to raise a healthy Palestinian economy up so Palestinians have something else to do all day other than sitting around pissed off. Most of all, I’d lampoon right wing crazies everywhere who are infecting this world with their fear, ideology and violence. It’s these people who are the real problem.
Make no mistake about it, far too many Representatives and Senators on both sides of the isle share this view, which is why we need to draw attention to its fundamentally flawed premises, worst of which being the fatal misconception, that it is possible for Arabs in general and Palestinians in particular to accept and formally recognize the State of Israel anytime soon.

What do you all think of the calculated murders of Palestinian women and children by Christian Falange milita at the Sabra and Chatilla concentration camps in 1982? This warcrime was done at the behest of non-Buberesque Zionist Ariel Sharon? Was Zionist Israel's identification with the Nazi persecutors of the Jews by that point complete, or has that eventuality only come about since with the massacre of Lebanese children by the ISF in Qana last year and the ongoing obscenities of the Gaza concentration camp, the destruction of Palestinian towns and farms by illegal but government encouraged Israeli settlers and the murder of small stone throwing boys by Israeli soldiers, etc.?
I'd be interested to hear your views on Zionist terrorism against Western/European targets, such as the attacks on the King David Hotel, the USS Liberty and various social centres in Germany. Were such actions cunning strategems gone wrong, intended and carried out so as to be blamed on the Palestinans and thus justify further Zionist genocide (yes, I know it's a strong word but we can no longer deny the concerted attempts to exterminate Palestinans in order to obtain their land for settlement, or Lebensraum as that practice was known in earlier days) or were they simply straightforward terrorist attacks intended to further the non-Buberesque Zionist (the Israeli Military Industrial complex to give it another name) faction in Israel in a more direct manner?
I'd be curious to hear the views of those on the more righthand side of the arbitrary political divide.

Mac,
Read it all, and good for you. Didn't know ”European Jews actually increased in number between 1938 and 1948 - by approx 400,000”. Amazing what Holocaust deniers, even very moderate, can teach you. :>)
It never ends.
p.s. By "very moderate", I meant at least they admitted something happened. And you were dead on regarding Serbs, Croats, and Bosnians. The Serbian ethnic cleansing was payback, I believe, for which the Serbs will rightly pay. Some debts should be not be collected in kind.

This is why Ahmadama-dumb-f*** is so dangerous. As Bibi pointed out on Glenn Beck, "he doesn't even bother with keeping up the pretenses" anymore. He is so confident of his leeway to act that he doesn't feel the need to mince words.
I agree with you about Israel - probably the best argument of all for the existence of Israel IS the existence of Israel. Clearly a viable state. The "palestinian" state has demonstrated no such viability, and in my opinion it is too far gone, and never will.
What I think is so dangerous is how the International Left is shifting the goalposts. Once a staunch supporter of the socially progressive, neo-socialist state, they have become enamoured instead with Arab fascist regimes who prosecute and beat homosexuals, and keep women as second-class citizens.
It is this support for groups like Fatah, a famously and visciously homophobic and savage bunch of fascists, that simply disqualifies the left from any meaningful discussion about anything.

Yes, but there was a media event not long ago that, arguably, is even more revealing of the Muslim East than is this Ahmanite Holocaust Circus in Tehran. I refer, of course, to the millions of Arabs glued to their boob tubes for the mini-series based on The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Mini? It ran to 41 episodes, produced by (sic) Dream TV. Apparently a huge popular success.
However, some critics have pointed to why it might have been suitable for moderate muslims. For one thing, the title was not the "Protocols of Zion" etc. Instead, it was "Horseman Without a Horse." There was also another 'moderate' factor. Analysts say it was not totally verbatim, or all-Protocols-all-the-time. Instead the producers did "re-writes" of the Protocols. Writers, we are told, drew "inspiration" from the original work, especially 19 of the 24 protocols.
According to MEMRI, Roz Al-Youssuf stated that the series used quotes from "The Protocols of Zion" such as, "we will damage [social] morality with pornography, prostitution, and drugs, and we will corrupt the world of the Gentiles," as well as "Feed a dog, [but] not a Muslim or a Christian..." and so on.
They do seem to equate Hollywood and Big Media with B'Nai B'rith and synagogues. There are more quotes on the series from Arab media at http://memri.org
ps. This Egyptian production has not been shown here at any of the progressive art houses or Ivy League schools, so far as I know. True, al-Jazeera TV is now operating in the U.S., but I don't believe they've announced any intention of airing "Horseman Without a Horse," with or without subtitles.

GD: I agree it's absurd; unfortunately it's also widespread; the overwhelming majority of Muslims in the world believe a) the Holocaust never happened or is an invention and b) Jews are evil and the source of all bad in the world and their particular countries. Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the Dutch Muslim critic of the Islamists, has been read out of Islam by most, forced into exile outside the Netherlands, and threatened with death. Alexandra mentions the OIC, which one could expect to engage in Holocaust denial; I wonder about CAIR, the U.S. Islamic "civil rights" organization, which recently raised an (unfounded) protest when six threatening imams were forced off an airplane after making threatening remarks and gestures but never says a word when Jews (or other non-Muslims, for that matter) are slandered, libelled, or physically attacked. Of course we know that, like Hitler, people most concerned with consolidating their power over all other considerations rely on demagoguery and scapegoating to further their ambitions. In the 1990s, the loathsome Mahathir Muhammad, strongman president of Malaysia, did exactly this sort of thing on a regular basis, blaming George Soros (as NON-pro-Israeli a Jew as I can think of) and "Jewish financiers" for Malaysia's late-'90s currency crisis and trumping up charges of sexual misconduct to have his chief (ethnic Malay Muslim) political rival imprisoned. Just this week Mahathir rather casually apologized to Soros and absolved him of blame for the currency crisis; of course this doesn't say anything about Muhammad's constant anti-Jewish and Holocaust-denying speeches while he was Malay president or after he left office. We've got an uphill battle... Shalom, Mac Brachman

I would offer the following points: 1. The State of Israel does not and should not rely on the Holocaust as an argument for its existence, legitimacy or policies. 2. The State of Israel exists fait accompli; requires no further validation from the Arabs or anybody else... frankly Israel has as much right to exist as America. 3. The general concept of a two-state solution has made headway and rejectionism on both sides must and will be politically eroded.
The argument regarding the factual veracity of the Holocaust is absurd... having meaning only in the realm of political rhetoric making the assumption that European support for Israel is rooted in Holocaust guilt.
While exact numbers cannot be ascribed and the NAZIS targeted other groups including the Jews, it is quite evident to any but the grandest dullard that the unfortunate events took place as a direct result of deliberate NAZI policies; evidence of which can be traced back as far as Hitler's penning of "Mein Kamph"...
"In Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler writes that Freemasonry has "succumbed" to the Jews and has become an "excellent instrument" to fight for their aims and to use their "strings" to pull the upper strata of society into their alleged designs. He continues, “The general pacifistic paralysis of the national instinct of self-preservation begun by Freemasonry is then transmitted to the masses of society by the Jewish press”." (Sounds like rightest arguments regarding the Liberal Media in America currently).
"Many scholars date the beginning of the Holocaust itself to the anti-Jewish riots of the Night of Broken Glass ("Kristallnacht") of November 9, 1938, in which Jews were attacked and Jewish property was vandalized across Germany. Approximately 100 Jews were killed, and another 30,000 sent to concentration camps, while over 7,000 Jewish shops and 1,574 synagogues (almost every synagogue in Germany) were damaged or destroyed. Similar events took place in Vienna at the same time."
"As many as 1.6 million Jews were murdered in open-air shootings by Nazis and their collaborators, especially in 1941 before the establishment of the concentration camps. During the invasion of the Soviet Union, over 3,000 special killing units (organized into the four Einsatzgruppen) followed the Wehrmacht, conducting mass murders of Poles, Communist officials, and the Jewish population that lived in Soviet territory."
"Poles were an early target in the AB Action, in which 30,000 Polish intellectual and political figures were rounded up, and 7,000 eventually murdered. By the summer of 1941, the Einsatzgruppen turned to targeting Jews, starting with the extermination of 2,200 Jews in Bialystok on June 27, 1941, and quickly increased in scale. 1,500 Jews were murdered in Kaunas on June 26 by the German SS forces. 4,000 Jews murdered in Lviv on June 30–July 3, 1941 by Ukrainian collaborators. From September to the end of 1941, a series of mass murders took place throughout Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Latvia: over 33,000 Jews were killed at Babi Yar, 25,000 at Rumbula by Latvian Nazis (Arajs Commando), over 36,000 at Odessa by Romanian forces, 19,000 at the Ninth Fort of Kaunas, and 40,000 (up to 100,000 by 1944) at Paneriai by the German SS forces. These, and similar slaughters throughout Europe, murdered around 100,000 Jews per month for five months. By the end of 1943, another 900,000 Jews would be murdered in this manner, but the pace was not fast enough for the Nazi leadership, who, at the end of 1941 and the beginning of 1942, began the implementation of the Final Solution, the complete extermination of the Jews of Europe."
"In December 1941, the Nazis opened Chelmno, the first of what would soon be seven extermination camps, dedicated entirely to mass extermination on an industrial scale, as opposed to the labor or concentration camps. Over three million Jews would die in these extermination camps. The method of killing at these camps was by poison gas (Zyklon B or carbon monoxide), usually in "gas chambers", although many prisoners were killed in mass shootings and by other means. The bodies of those killed were destroyed in crematoria (except at Sobibór where they were cremated on outdoor pyres), and the ashes buried or scattered."
"As the armies of the Allies closed in on the Reich at the end of 1944, the Nazis decided to abandon the extermination camps, moving or destroying evidence of the atrocities they had committed there. The Nazis marched prisoners, already sick after months or years of violence and starvation, for tens of miles in the snow to train stations; then transported for days at a time without food or shelter in freight trains with open carriages; and forced to march again at the other end to the new camp. Prisoners who lagged behind or fell were shot. The largest and most well known of the death marches took place in January 1945, when the Soviet army advanced on Poland. Nine days before the Soviets arrived at the death camp at Auschwitz, the SS guards marched 60,000 prisoners out of the camp toward Wodzislaw, 56 km (35 mi) away, where they were put on freight trains to other camps. Around 15,000 died on the way. In total, around 100,000 Jews died during these death marches."
"Due to the organization and overwhelming military might of the Nazi German state and its supporters, few Jews and other Holocaust victims were able to resist the killings. There are, however, many cases of attempts at resistance in one form or another, and over a hundred armed Jewish uprisings."
"The largest instance of organized Jewish resistance was the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, from April to May of 1943, as the final deportation from the Ghetto to the death camps was about to commence, the ZOB and ZZW fighters rose up against the Nazis. Most of the resistors were killed, but the few who did survive the war are currently residing in Israel. There were also other Ghetto Uprisings, though none were successful against the German military."
"There were also major resistance efforts in three of the extermination camps. In August 1943, an uprising also took place at the Treblinka extermination camp. Many buildings were burnt to the ground, and seventy inmates escaped to freedom, but 1,500 were killed. Gassing operations were interrupted for a month."

Aside from rampant antisemitism throughout Europe, Hitler and the NAZIS viewed the Jews as a Fifth Column that had undermined the German war effort in WW I and had to be eliminated during WW II. This coupled with extreme notions of racial purity and purification culminated in the most brutal, efficient and systematic ethnic cleansing of modern times.
fifth column
–noun 1. a group of people who act traitorously and subversively out of a secret sympathy with an enemy of their country.
2. (originally) Franco sympathizers in Madrid during the Spanish Civil War: so called in allusion to a statement in 1936 that the insurgents had four columns marching on Madrid and a fifth column of sympathizers in the city ready to rise and betray it.
Chaim Weizmann was a scientist, leader of the Zionist movement for almost 30 years (1917-1946), and the first President of the State of Israel.
Weizmann's Zionist doctrine is reflected in his words: “Even if all of the kings of the East and West were to give us a state, it would only be words. But if the Jewish people were to rise up and build the land of Israel, then the State of Israel would be a fait accompli.”
And so it is... fait accompli.

Thank you, Alexandra, for this fine post on calling out the people who would not only spread these lies but those who sit by idly as they do it.
whenever we encounter such mindless or deliberate evil.
I think that's what is the most disturbing aspect to me, the fact that there are people who might take the word of others and repeat them ignorantly instead of actually seeking out the truth for themselves. Especially when you look at the history scores of some our high school students. This is certainly why Spielberg and others have labored to record as much from living witnesses as possible before there are no more. If first person accounts are questioned, how bad will it be when testimonies are only on paper and film?
I do have a question that, perhaps, someone here can answer for me. Why on earth would a group of Jews -- like the group that claims the holocaust numbers were "inflated" -- go to that conference and perhaps lend an air of credibility to it? If they have an agenda or position, couldn't they have found another forum in which to unveil it? I would like your thoughts on that, as well as what others might think.
I voted again today!!
